Q-9-2 — Unexpected End of XML Input

The XML document ended before the parser had finished what it was reading.

What this means

The parser hit end-of-input mid-construct: an open element with no closing tag, an attribute value missing its closing quote, a comment with no -->, an entity reference with no ;. The message names what the parser was expecting when the input ran out.

Why this happens

Common causes:

  • A truncated download — the file was not fully written.
  • A missing closing tag at the end of the document.
  • An unterminated comment, CDATA section, or processing instruction: the parser is still inside one of those when the input ends.

How to fix

Add the missing closing construct (</tag>, -->, ]]>, or the closing quote) at the appropriate place. If you suspect a truncation, compare the file size with the source and re-fetch if needed.
