Q-24-7 — List Number Styles Lost

Some numbered lists used letters, roman numerals or parenthesised numbers, which Quarto Markdown can’t write. They were imported as ordinary numbered lists.

What this means

Quarto Markdown has no marker for lettered (a.), roman (i.) or parenthesised ((1)) lists. The list keeps its start number and its items; the style is lost.

Why this happens

  • The document has lists numbered a), A., i., (1) or similar.

How to fix

Edit the imported list to use plain numbers, or accept the numbering. Changing Quarto Markdown’s grammar to keep list styles is not planned.
