Q-13-16 — Announcement has no content

website.announcement is set, but there is no text to show, so no banner is rendered.

What this means

An announcement banner needs content. It can be given as a string,

website:
announcement: "This site is in beta."

or as the content key of a map that also sets options:

website:
  announcement:
content: "This site is in beta."
    type: warning

This warning fires when the value has no usable content: it is true, a map with no content key, or a blank string.

Why this happens

  • announcement: true — the option is not an on/off switch; the value is the content itself.
  • A map without content — for example only type: and icon: were set, or the key was misspelled (text:, message:).
  • An empty string, often left behind while editing.

How to fix

Give the announcement text, as a string or as content:. To turn the banner off, for the whole site or for one page, set announcement: false instead; that is silent.
