Q-5-2 — Invalid Glob Pattern in resources:

A pattern in resources: is not a valid glob and could not be parsed.

What this means

The resources: key accepts paths and glob patterns. Quarto parses each entry as a glob; this error fires when the parse fails — the pattern is malformed at the glob-syntax level. The message includes the offending pattern and the underlying parser’s reason.

Why this happens

Common causes:

  • An unclosed character class ([abc with no ]).
  • A misplaced quantifier or other shell-glob convention that is not part of the supported glob syntax.
  • A literal pattern containing characters that the glob parser treats as metacharacters without escaping.

How to fix

Read the parser’s reason and adjust the pattern. For literal paths that happen to contain glob metacharacters, escape them with \ or restructure the pattern to avoid the literal use of [, ], ?, *.
