The file’s type is not one the importer reads. Document import supports Word (.docx), OpenDocument text (.odt), Rich Text Format (.rtf), EPUB (.epub) and PowerPoint (.pptx) files.

What this means

The file’s extension is not one of the formats the importer reads, so nothing was converted.

Why this happens

  • The file is a different kind of document, such as .doc (the old binary Word format), .pdf, .md or .html.
  • The file was renamed, and its extension no longer matches its contents.

How to fix

Save the document as one of the supported types (in Word: File → Save As → Word Document (.docx)) and import that. Files you want to keep as they are, without conversion, can be added with the Add asset dialog instead.
