A multi-paragraph indented block following a footnote definition is Pandoc syntax that Quarto markdown does not support.

What this means

In Pandoc, indenting multiple paragraphs under a footnote label attaches all of them to the footnote:

[^1]:
    First paragraph of the footnote.

    Second paragraph, also part of the footnote.

Quarto markdown does not parse that form. Use the fenced-div footnote form instead, with multiple paragraphs inside the div.

How to fix

Convert to the div form:

::: ^1
First paragraph of the footnote.

Second paragraph, also part of the footnote.
:::

The reference inside the div must match the reference in the text.
