An input path given on the command line does not exist.

What this means

Quarto could not find a file or directory at one of the paths you passed. The error fires before any render work begins.

Why this happens

Common causes:

  • A typo in the path (docs/index.qdm instead of docs/index.qmd).
  • A path resolved against the wrong current directory. Relative paths are resolved from your shell’s working directory, not from the project root.
  • A file that was renamed or deleted but is still referenced in a script or alias you are running.

How to fix

Check the path. ls (or dir on Windows) the parent directory to confirm the file is where you expect. If the path is correct but Quarto cannot see it, confirm your current working directory with pwd.
