Q-13-15 — Announcement references missing document

A link in the website.announcement content points at a document that is not in the project’s render index.

What this means

The announcement banner’s content is markdown, so it can link to other pages of the site, for example content: "See the [release notes](news.qmd).". Each link that names a document is looked up in the project index at render time, and rewritten to the page’s output URL. This warning fires when the name does not appear in that index. The banner still renders, but the link does not lead anywhere useful.

Link paths in the announcement are relative to the project root, like other links written in _quarto.yml.

Why this happens

Same family of causes as Q-13-1 (sidebar missing document):

  • A typo in the file name.
  • A renamed or deleted document.
  • An excluded file that is not part of the render set.
  • A path written relative to the page rather than to the project root.

How to fix

Point the link at a file that is in the render set, or add the missing file. The message names the missing path.
