Q-25-7 — Unknown component name on element

An element asks for a component that components: does not declare, by component=<name> or by quarto.component in Lua. The element keeps its static content.

What this means

An element can name its component directly, with the component attribute (::: {component=carousel}), or a Lua filter or lmd cell can build the element with quarto.component("carousel", props, blocks). Either way the name must match a components: entry, which is where the module (src) comes from. When it does not, Quarto warns, leaves the element unbound, and the page shows the element’s static content.

Why this happens

  • The entry is missing from components:, or its name is spelled differently.
  • The declaration lives in another document’s front matter rather than in _quarto.yml, so this page does not see it.

How to fix

Add the entry under components: (in the document, or in _quarto.yml for the whole project), or write the module path directly on the element: component=./carousel.js declares it on the spot.
