Q-2-6 — HTML Element Found in Document

Reserved for strict-mode rejection of raw HTML elements in markdown. Quarto today auto-converts instead and reports Q-2-9.

What this means

The catalog reserves this code for a future strict mode in which “naked” HTML elements inside markdown — <div>, <span>, <custom-tag> and so on — are rejected outright. In current Quarto, those elements are silently converted to raw HTML inlines and surface as the warning Q-2-9 instead.

Why this happens

You will not see this error in current Quarto: nothing emits it. The page exists so that the catalog entry is reachable and so that a future strict-mode release has a documentation page ready.

How to fix

If you see this error in a future Quarto release, the fix is to either (a) remove the raw HTML, replacing it with native markdown constructs, or (b) explicitly mark the snippet as raw HTML with the Pandoc raw-attribute form:

`<custom-tag>content</custom-tag>`{=html}
