Q-2-23 — Unclosed Inline Math

An inline-math span opens with $ but no closing $ appears before the end of the block.

What this means

Inline math ($x^2 + y^2 = z^2$) must be balanced inside the same block. This error fires when an opening $ has no matching close.

Why this happens

The most common cause is a literal $ for a currency amount being read as a math opener — for instance $5 to $10 opens math at the first dollar sign and runs until the next.

How to fix

For currency, escape the dollar signs:

The range is \$5 to \$10.

For real math, add the closing $ at the intended end.
