Math Construct Dropped
Q-22-12 — Math Construct Dropped
A construct with no equivalent in the target’s math model was dropped from the output; the rest of the expression is unaffected.
What this means
Some LaTeX constructs are typesetting instructions rather than mathematics (\hline between the rows of an array). When the target cannot represent them, quarto-math omits them and reports what was dropped so the omission is not silent.
Why this happens
Common causes: table rules (\hline, \cline) inside an array environment.
How to fix it
If the rule matters, consider a table outside the math; otherwise the warning can be ignored.
Where it is reported
Math diagnostics point into the .qmd at the exact characters inside the
$…$ or $$…$$ block, including math that spans several lines or sits
inside a block quote or list item. When a \newcommand macro is involved,
a problem inside the macro body points at the definition and a problem in
a macro argument points at the use.
