Q-12-5 — Invalid field-display-names Value

A field-display-names entry has a non-string value; that entry is dropped.

What this means

The field-display-names: key on a listing lets you rename the column headers shown in the table or grid view: date: "Posted" turns the default Date header into Posted. Every value under this key must be a string — the display name itself. This error fires when a value is a number, a boolean, a map, or any other non-string shape.

The offending entry is dropped; other entries continue to apply.

Why this happens

Common causes:

  • A bare number or boolean that was supposed to be quoted (date: 2024 instead of date: "2024").
  • A nested map mistakenly used here when the author meant a more elaborate column-customization API.

How to fix

Make sure every value under field-display-names: is a string. If you need both a display name and other column customization, the other options live under different keys (such as field-types:).
