Q-2-26 — Unclosed Inline Footnote

An inline footnote opens with ^[ but the closing ] does not appear before the end of the block.

What this means

Pandoc-style inline footnotes attach a parenthetical aside to the text by wrapping the body in ^[ ... ]. The opener ^[ must be balanced by a matching ] inside the same block. This error fires when the closing bracket never appears.

Why this happens

The closing bracket was deleted, or a literal ^[ was read as an inline-footnote opener.

How to fix

Complete the footnote with a ] at the intended end, or escape the opener so the parser treats it as plain text:

The caret \^[is literal here].
