Q-10-3 — Partial Not Found
A template’s
$partial(name)$reference names a partial file that does not exist.
What this means
Pandoc-flavored templates can compose smaller fragments
(partials) through $partial("name.tex")$ or
$partial("name.html")$. The partial is looked up at compile
time. This error fires when no partial with the requested name
can be found on the template search path.
Why this happens
Common causes:
- A typo in the partial filename.
- The partial lives in a directory that the template engine is not searching. Partials are resolved relative to the calling template’s directory and any directories the build adds to the search path.
- A partial that was renamed or deleted without updating its references.
How to fix
Confirm the partial file exists at the path the engine is looking for. The simplest verification is to put the file beside the calling template — if the reference resolves then, the previous location was off the search path.
