Q-3-53 — Figure Not Supported in ANSI Format

Figure elements cannot be rendered in ANSI terminal output.

What this means

A figure is an image (or a group of images) with an attached caption. The ANSI writer (used when rendering to a terminal) does not render figures: a terminal cannot display the image, and printing only the caption would lose the relationship between caption and content.

Why this happens

Your document contains a figure block — either a Pandoc-style ![caption](path) paragraph promoted to a figure, or an explicit ::: figure fenced div — and you rendered to ANSI output.

How to fix

Render to a different format. If you do want a terminal-friendly view that mentions the figure, render to markdown (--to qmd) or strip the figures with a filter before sending the AST to the ANSI writer.
