What this means

book-scope: book was requested for this render (for example with -M book-scope:book), but the format does not put a book into a single file. Only typst, pdf and epub have a whole-book output. html, docx and pptx render each page on its own, so the request could not be honoured.

You see this warning only when the request was made for this render. A book-scope set in _quarto.yml, in a _metadata.yml or in a document does not trigger it, and neither does the default. Asking for book-scope: chapter never triggers it: each page of these formats is already rendered on its own.

How to fix

Drop -M book-scope:book, or render to a format that consolidates the book (--to typst or --to epub).
