Q-12-15 — Listing Feed Skipped: Missing site-url

A listing has feed: configured but the project’s website.site-url is missing; feed generation is skipped.

What this means

A listing’s feed: key asks Quarto to emit an Atom/RSS feed for the listing’s items. Every item in the feed needs an absolute URL —
and
elements require it — and those URLs are built by joining the project’s website.site-url to each item’s relative path. Without a site-url, Quarto cannot construct the links and refuses to emit a feed that would be invalid.

The listing’s host page renders correctly; only the feed file (listing.xml, or your configured feed path) is skipped.

Why this happens

The project is missing the site-url field in _quarto.yml:

website:
 title: "My Site"
 # site-url not set

Local-only projects often do not bother setting site-url because most things work without it; feeds are one of the few features that genuinely require it.

How to fix

Add site-url: under website: in _quarto.yml:

website:
 title: "My Site"
 site-url: "https://example.com"

Use the URL the site will be hosted at in production. The feed’s links are baked into the output at render time, so the URL needs to be the deploy URL even when you are previewing locally.
