Q-26-7 — Invalid lmd cell options
The
--|option lines at the top of an lmd cell are not valid YAML, or name an option with the wrong type. The cell runs as if it had no options.
What this means
An lmd cell takes options in Lua comment syntax at the top of the cell,
one per line, --| key: value, the way a Python cell takes #| key: value. The option lines did not parse as YAML, or an option had a value
of the wrong type. The cell still runs, with no options applied. The
error is located on the offending option line.
Why this happens
- Unbalanced YAML on an option line:
--| echo: [. - A value of the wrong type:
--| echo: yes pleasewhereechotakestrueorfalse. - An option line that is not at the top of the cell. Option lines must
come before the first line of Lua; a
--|comment further down is an ordinary Lua comment and is ignored.
How to fix
Correct the YAML. The only option an lmd cell understands today is
echo, a boolean that keeps the desugared Lua visible above the result;
other keys are accepted and ignored:
```{lmd}
--| echo: true
return {=: Shown with its Lua. :=}
```
