Q-13-8 — Unsupported toc-location Value
The
toc-locationoption has a value Quarto does not support; a fallback placement is used.
What this means
The toc-location option controls where the table of contents is
placed in HTML output:
toc: true
toc-location: leftSupported values are left, right (the default), and body.
This warning fires when the option carries any other value. The
document still renders, with a fallback placement:
left-bodyfalls back toleft, andright-bodyfalls back toright. These two values (which in Quarto 1 render a sidebar TOC plus a copy in the document body) are not implemented yet.- Any other value falls back to the default,
right.
Why this happens
Either a typo (toc-location: lft), or use of the left-body /
right-body double-TOC values, which Quarto 2 does not implement
yet.
How to fix
Use one of the supported values:
toc-location: left # TOC in a left sidebar
toc-location: right # TOC in the right margin (default)
toc-location: body # TOC at the top of the document bodyIf you need the left-body / right-body double-TOC behavior,
follow Quarto 2 development — until it lands, the sidebar half of
the value is honored.
